Diana Bekkerman was born in Kishinev, Moldavia (former USSR) in 1980. When Diana was almost eleven, her family moved to US. Diana spent her teenage years upstate New York, where she graduated high school with Valedictorian Award.

Diana got her BFA at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, where she was awarded a Presidential Merit Scholarship for four consecutive years. After graduating from college, Diana decided to enhance her skills in classical realism, and she started taking private art lessons with Vyacheslav Shevchenko, an established academic realist painter. The same year, Diana and Vyacheslav got married.

Studying under Vyacheslav’s guidance, Diana started to participate in group shows since 2003.
That same year she won Joe’s Art Supplies Award in Juried Art Show in Ringwood Manor, NJ. In 2007, Diana recieved a Second Place in oil painting category in Wyoming Valley Art League Spring exhibit, and in 2009, she received the Best in the Show Award  participating in Wyoming Valley Art League Fall Exhibit. Diana also had many solo shows – in New York and in Pennsylvania.

Currently, Diana resides in Wilkes Barre, PA, where she dedicates her time to her creative work, and to teaching art.
